Evil Donkey Entertainment

Not your average mobile DJ!

What sort of music do you play?

Anything! 6 hours of hair bands for your kegger. Continuous breakbeats to keep the block party on their toes. Mellow jazz in the background during dinner. Punk-rock bar mitzvah. 60s, 70s, or 80s themes. You name it. If I don't have it, I'll find it!

Do you take requests?

Like all DJs, I take requests during my sets, and like all DJs, sometimes I just don't have it. During the free consultation, we will discuss what sorts of music you think your guests will want to hear, thus minimizing these instances. If you're after something very specific, I can find it between the meeting and the event.

Ok, so these "free consultations." What's that all about?

These are meetings, usually 1-2 weeks before the gig, to go over details like music preferences, finalizing a price, where to set up, where to park, etc. I've found that these are most productive if they take place at the venue itself, so that would be prefered if at all possible.

Why vinyl?

First of all, price. Some of my favorite records cost me a buck, and of course the savings are passed on to you. Second is sound. Analog music has a distinctly warm tone and bass definition that, even with all kinds of artificial enhancements, digital music simply cannot duplicate. If you weren't a vinyl aficionado before, you're going to be pleasantly surprised!

I have this really important song on CD I want you to play. Can you?

Yes. Just let me know when during the event you'd like to hear it, and what track(s).

There will be a host/mc/guest who will be getting up to say a few words. Do you have a microphone?

Yes.

At our parties we like to (insert crazy satanic ritual here). Will that be a problem?

Evil Donkey Entertainment respects all lifestyles and beliefs. As long as it's legal and doesn't involve sacrificing the DJ or setting his equipment on fire, this is not a deal-breaker.

How big is your PA system?

BIG. It puts out about 2kw RMS power, about the maximum you can run on a standard electrical outlet. When comparing to other systems, keep in mind that many department-store stereo systems may advertise, say, 500 watts of power, but this usually means that's the most electricity you can put through the thing before it catches on fire (see above question). If it says 500 watts, that means it's good for about 250 watts of MUSIC, or if you push it, 500 watts of NOISE. The frankensystem I provide for my gigs is conservatively rated at 2000 watts of clear, distortion-free music. How much power will it put out when pushed to the limit? Well, this system has seen some big venues, both indoors and out, and I'm proud to say, I have no idea.

Do you provide other party-related services, like photography, flowers, or strippers?

No, I'm just a master of one trade. Although I could DJ naked if you really wanted me to (you don't want to see that).

Do you do weddings?

I have, and I enjoy doing it. But my experience has shown that you could make your Big Day a bit classier and more tasteful by booking a band. If you need help finding a good one, I am well-connected in the local music scene and would be glad to help you.

Honestly, what's the difference between you and the guy charging three grand?

Well for starters, I don't have greased back hair and a goatee. I also don't talk constantly during my sets. Oh, and my van has a few rust spots. Honestly.

Do you have references?

Yes. If you'd like me to put one of my happy customers in contact with you, I'd be more than happy to.
